Ben the red hen had a pet rat. The rat sat on his hat when they ran.
"Ben!" yelled Tim the pig. "Can I pet your rat?"
Ben the hen did a hop. "Yes, but be not too hot on his fur."
Tim the pig sat on the log. Ben put the rat in his big lap.
"He is so fun!" said Tim with a grin.
The rat did a bit of a jig on Tim's leg. He ran up and got on Tim's top hat!
"My hat!" Tim did yap. "Get him off!"
Ben the hen had to hug his gut. It was too fun to see Tim and the rat!
The rat ran and ran in a big lap. He went on the rim of the hat, then did a dip!
"Oh no!" Ben did cry. "He may fall!"
But the rat was too hot for a bit of a tip. He ran off the hat and on to Ben's cot.
Tim and Ben ran to the cot. The rat hid in a box!
"We can not get him out," Ben did say.
"I bet I can," Tim said. He got a big bag of ham.
Tim put a bit of ham by the box. The rat's wet red lip did pop out!
"I see him!" Ben did yip.
The rat ran to the ham. He was in a mad rush to get it!
Tim and Ben had a big win! The rat got his ham and the pals got to pet him.
"Let us do it all yet one more day," Ben did say. And Tim did nod.
